It’s 5 o’clock in the evening and everyone is wondering what’s for dinner, right?

Surely you’ve taken something out the freezer to cook because if you didn’t that means you’ll be ordering pizza again.

This was the story of my life until I started weekly meal planning. When I had nothing to cook we were always ordering takeout because thinking of dinner ideas on a whim just overwhelmed me.

So if you want to finally take the stress out of cooking, here are 8 reasons you should start meal planning, too!

I HATED meal prep. Thinking of weekly meal ideas was so overwhelming. But now I look FORWARD to weekly meal planning and cooking dinner!!! If you want to take the stress out of dinner, you need to start meal planning too!

1. YOU’LL SAVE MORE MONEY

When you know what meals you’re going to make, it makes it easier to stretch your grocery budget and not spend more than you have too.

We actually cut our grocery bill in half once we started using the $5 Meal Plan!

2. YOU’LL BE MORE FOCUSED

Grocery stores love to distract you. But making a shopping list ahead of time will help you know exactly what you’re going in to grab so you don’t walk out with a cart full of junk.

3. YOU’LL SAVE MORE TIME

Before I started meal planning, I’d easily spend over an hour shopping. Time is so precious – you can never get it back.

Now, I’m in and out of the grocery store within 30 minutes top! (Just in time to catch my favorite tv shows)

4. YOU’LL SPEND LESS ON TAKEOUT

Ordering takeout was definitely one of my biggest weaknesses. My kids kept me so busy that I didn’t always have the time or the energy to plan for dinner.

But eating out isn’t cheap for our family. So cooking all of our meals at home saves us a ton of money.

5. YOU CAN COOK LESS OFTEN

Making meals that can be used for leftovers is the BEST. Instead of spending 7 nights a week in the kitchen, you can win back so much time cooking only 3-4 nights each week.

6. OR YOU CAN COOK IN ADVANCE

If you don’t own a slow cooker (this is the one I use), you’re seriously missing out! You can make almost anything in a slow cooker – and get a headstart on dinner as early as you’d like.

I purchased my Crock-Pot from Amazon a while back and I LOVE it! You can order it here.

7. YOU’LL ENJOY THE QUIET TIME

Making time for meal planning also means I get an hour of peace and quiet to brainstorm ideas. What mom wouldn’t love that?!

But if you’re like me and have trouble thinking of meal ideas, I highly recommend the $5 Meal Plan. Each week you’ll receive custom meal ideas right in your inbox!

For just $5/month, it helped us save a lot of more money and less time at the grocery store.

You can sign up to try it FREE for two whole weeks!

8. YOU CAN TRY NEW RECIPES

My husband would complain that we ate the same meals every week … and he was right. Before meal planning, I would only cook meals I was familiar with because I didn’t have time to experiment.

But since I’ve started meal planning, we’ve been able to try many new recipes that my kids (and husband) now love!

What to do now?

By now, I’m sure you’re excited to start meal planning. But if the idea of it all stresses you out, then you’ll love the $5 Meal Plan.

I can’t even tell you how much I enjoy having my Sunday nights back since I don’t have to come up with dinner ideas anymore!

So is spending $5 a month worth taking the stress out of putting dinner on the table?

I’d say so – click here to try it for free!
